Molesworth Manor Restaurants St Petroc’s Bistro, New Street, Padstow – another of Rick Stein’s restaurants - very good food in a relaxed atmosphere and less expensive than the Seafood Restaurant (above). Middle Street Café, Middle Street, Padstow - The least expensive and most relaxed of Rick Stein’s stable of restaurants. Good food, good value. Bistro Margot, Dukes Street, Padstow – small (22 covers), very popular restaurant in middle of Padstow. The food is very good and good value hence the need to book well in advance. Tel: 01841 533441 No 6, Middle Street, Padstow - fine dining at a very high level of skill and sophistication. Paul Ainsworth is a chef with an excellent pedigree but his food is reasonably priced. Fantastic value set lunch. Pescadou, the Harbour Front, Padstow – spacious restaurant with strong seafood menu by the harbour. Tel : 01841 532359 Rojano’s in the Square, Padstow – pizza and pasta in Padstow. Recently taken over by the talented Mr Paul Ainsworth of No.6 so we are expecting good things. Great for children. The Journeyman, Melingey, near Little Petherick – the closest restaurant to Molesworth Manor (you can walk to there on the Saint’s Way – in daylight) in a very attractive old watermill. It offers a mix of British and very good Asian-influenced food (they do not take children under 12 years old). Tel: 01841 540604 Trevose Golf & Country Club, Constantine Bay – it offers un-interrupted views over the golf course to the magnificent coastline beyond. Sunsets there are beautiful. Reasonable food and plenty of room so a good option at busy periods. Non golfers welcome. The Glass House, Eddystone Road, Wadebridge –owned by my friend Tim Burridge. Open for morning coffee and afternoon tea as well as lunch and dinner. Good varied menu at reasonable prices it has plenty of space and is good for families. Tel: 01208 814800 The Raj – just off Eddystone Road, Wadebridge – this excellent Indian restaurant is well frequented by locals so book to be sure of a table. Fifteen @Watergate Bay, nr Newquay - Jamie Oliver’s restaurant has fabulous views over Watergate Bay. Dinner can be expensive but lunch is a very good option. Need to book well in advance. Tel: 01637 860877 Porthminster Beach Café, Porthminster Beach, St Ives –great place, right on the beach in St.Ives. It really has a good feel and delicious food. Ideal if you’re planning a day out in this picturesque town. You will need to book. Tel: 01736 795352 (you can get there by train from Lelant – further up the branch-line - and avoid the parking nightmare that is St Ives). The same people now have a restaurant (open in the season only) at Porthmeor Beach (just by the Tate). Restaurants by ferry Tides Restaurant above the Mariner’s Inn. Tel: 01208 862737 Pubs The Ring o’Bells, St Issey – good atmosphere, full of locals. Traditional pub food. The Cornish Arms, St Merryn The Quarryman, Edmonton, Wadebridge - great pub, variety of real ales and very good menu. Specials board which changes daily. Maltsters Arms, Chapel Amble (other side of Wadebridge) – a good pub with good food in a very pretty Cornish village. Tel: 01208 812473 St Kew Inn, St Kew (other side of Wadebridge) – great pub. Good food, bit of a drive but worth it. St Kew is just off the A39 heading north. |
